چکیده
abstract a cardiovascular problem is one of the common complications of diabetes. connexin is the predominant protein subunit in gap junction structure which is important in communication between cells. considering the role of connexin, this question can be created in the mind whether changes in phosphorylated connexin 43 occurs in diabetics thoracic aorta or not? 20 male wistar rats (30050g) were randomly divided into two groups (n=10): control and diabetic group. diabetes mellitus was induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg). after 60-days, rats were anaesthetized and then thoracic aorta was isolated and immediately freeze, at the end phosphorylated connexin 43 levels were measured by elisa method. in this study, a significant increase in the level of connexin 43 is observed in the diabetic group (p<0.05). increased phosphorylated connexin 43 levels and downregulation of it, with the loss of cell communication through gap junction and induction of apoptosis, can be one cause of cardiovascular problems in diabetes patients.

Attenuation of phosphorylated connexin-43 protein levels in diabetic rat heart by regular moderate exercise.
BACKGROUND High blood glucose levels increase the ratio of phosphorylated to non-phosphorylated connexin-43 amounts, which leads to the decomposition of the hyperphosphorylated connexin-43. This can cause heart arrhythmia in diabetic patients. Considering the effective role of exercise in diabetic patients, and because there are few studies regarding the effect of exercise on phosphorylated con...

Background & Aims: Considering the higher incidence of cardiovascular disorders in diabetes mellitus and some evidence on antioxidant and antidiabetic potential of Tribulus terrestris (TT), this study was conducted to evaluate the beneficial effect of 6-week oral administration of TT on contractile reactivity of isolated thoracic aorta in diabetic rats. Methods: Female Wistar rats were divided ...
متن کاملFluoxetin Upregulates Connexin 43 Expression in Astrocyte
Introduction: Recent studies have shown that astrocytes play major roles in normal and disease condition of the central nervous system including multiple sclerosis (MS). Molecular target therapy studies in MS have revealed that connexin-43 (Cx43) and Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) contents of astrocytes undergo expression alteration. Fluoxetine had some effects in MS patients unrelated to its known antidep...

متن کاملChanges in vascular reactivity of the coronary artery and thoracic aorta in the delta sarcoglycan null mutant mice
Introduction: Mutations in the delta sarcoglycan gene (d-SG) cause limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2F with structural and functional alterations in cardiac, smooth and skeletal muscle. The objective of the present study was to improve information about changes in vascular reactivity of the thoracic aorta and the coronary artery in the perfused heart of the d-SG-null mutant mouse model. ...
متن کاملDetection of Pathological Changes in the Aorta during Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Progression on Molecular Level
The progression of thoracic aortic aneurysm depends on regulation of aortic wall homeostasis and on changes in the structural components of the extracellular matrix, which are affected by multiple molecular signalling pathways. We decided to correlate the diameter of ascending thoracic aneurysm with gene expression of inflammation markers (IL-6, CRP), cytokine receptors (IL-6R, TNFR1, and TNFR2...
